Gold (18 ct), silver, nickel alloy, lapis lazuli, sapphire and ruby

Date: 2008

22.4 cm height

Commissioned by a donor who wishes to remain anonymous in memory of Valerie Stewart; WA2008.96

Valerie Stewart, together with Joan Crossley-Holland, founded the Oxford Gallery in 1968. Valerie's main interest was in jewellery and metalwork and through the gallery she played an important role in promoting a number of extremely talented young artists, including Wendy Ramshaw CBE, the creator of this work. 'Double Bow' evolved from a piece Wendy made for the Oxford Gallery in 1977, entitled 'Bowring', to mark the Gallery's 100th exhibition.
